Metro-area foster children to sleep snug in new beds
Ronald McDonald House donates over $9,000 to foster children's charity
DETROIT On Nov. 14, Detroit-area foster children's charity For The Seventh Generation (www.fortheseventhgeneration.org) announced receipt of two grants totalling $9,375.00 from Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
The grants $4,688.00 from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southeastern Michigan and $4,687.00 from the global Ronald McDonald House Charities organization, (national office) will be used to purchase bed sets for twenty-five metro-Detroit-area infants and children in foster care.
Michigan's foster care system tries to provide the basics, but tight budgets mean that way too many foster children end up sleeping on couches, air mattresses, or worse, said For The Seventh Generation Executive Director Lorraine Weber. These grant monies mean that twenty-five foster children in our area will be sleeping comfortably in brand new beds this winter and beyond.
We can't thank Ronald McDonald House Charities enough for the huge difference they are making in the lives of these children.
FTSG soliciting donations of bedding
Now that cribs and beds will be available, For The Seventh Generation is seeking donations of new and nearly-new bedding to outfit the beds the organization will be purchasing with the RMHC grant.
We need sheets, blankets (including baby blankets), pillowcases you name it, said FTSG Help Closet Coordinator Shirley Roseman, who added that people seeking more information or wishing to make a donation can contact her directly at email@example.com.
