October Open House Introduces Fifty Foster Care Professionals to FTSG, Play It Forward!, and the New Help Closet

On Friday October 19, approximately fifty foster care professionals from throughout the metro Detroit area enjoyed good music, good food, and a great introduction to FTSG and our new services – the Play It Forward! music lesson and Help Closet programs.

A scrumptious lunch was provided by Panera of Grosse Pointe and Dino’s Restaurant and Lounge in Ferndale, and participants enjoyed live music courtesy of Behind The Times.

The foster care professionals who attended were excited about FTSG and the new programs, with several singling out the Help Closet – with resources like clothing and furniture being hard to come by, we received lots of comments saying that the Help Closet is a great new resource for metro Detroit’s foster children and families!

“Child Protective Services doesn’t have a lot of resources to help foster families out,” said Roshell George, from Department of Human Services – Child Protective Services during the event. “You guys offer a lot of great services – all of these programs are valuable to our clients!”

FTSG co-founder Kelly Ramsey was also on hand and said that she is “thrilled” to see how far the organization has come over the years. “Lorraine and the volunteers have done a stunning job, and I’m eager to see how these new programs will fit into For The Seventh Generation’s over all work for foster children” she said in between visiting with her many friends who attended the event.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Holy Cross Children’s Services (particularly Mike Alm), our food and music sponsors, and all of the volunteers who made this special event happen.
